Cow & calf elk that were killed in the Blackwell-Corral Fire on the Payette NF in
1994. The photo was taken
in July of 1995. These two elk were only part of the twenty plus members of the herd
not to mention the thousands of other animals that died in this wildfire and will die in

The forest service seems to be gearing up, at least in Ravalli County, Montana to allow fires to run wild again in 2001 if the fire season develops.
The wild animals, not to mention humans, do not deserve this kind of treatment in the name of conservation.
CONSERVATION IS THE WISE USE AND NOT ABUSE OF NATURAL RESOURCES TO ACHIEVE THE GREATEST GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND FOR MAN.
