July 21, 2000 The Three Legged Stool.  Concerned About Grizzlies suspects that CARA (Conservation And Reinvestment Act) signals the beginning of the end of Democracy in the United States as we know it.

The Honorable Domenici:

Do not make CARA the law of the land.

The following is an explaination of why we should not allow CARA to become a law of the land:

The environmentalists are already in control of the federal land and resource management agencies and need no more help from the federal government.

The following is an explanation of why you should oppose this bill:

WAKE UP AMERICA BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

There has been voices in the wilderness warning people of the United States that their lifestyle is in jeopardy. Kathleen Marquardt in her RETURN TO EDEN OR TICKET TO HELL and Dr. Michael S. Coffman, while a respected professor at the University of Wisconsin, wrote GLOBALIZED GRIZZLIES describing what impediments have been put in place to thwart our pursuit of life, liberty and happiness. There are several events that have subsequently taken place that will culminate in the takeover of your lifestyle.

If you want to see just how well organized and how  your tax money is being spent on the dream of Y2Y go to the following site and tour it paying particular attention to Grizzly  Tracks: http://www.fs.fed.us/r1/wildlife/igbc/ and see why it is urgent that we look at what is presented below and see if you don't agree that the "THREE LEGGED STOOL" has been destroyed and it is critical that we act in response to that destruction.

THE THREE LEGGED STOOL

The forefathers of this great nation became aware that wilderness, natural resources and open spaces are finite. They set in motion strategies to set aside National Parks and wilderness areas to preserve lands that are to remain much the same as they were when their forefathers arrived from the 'Old World'. Over the years they also crafted something called Wise Use and not Abuse of OUR Natural Resources- a very wise move.

This conservation movement was so well received that it was incorporated into our public school system in grades k-12 and beyond. Along with the conservation movement it was also taught that individuals have the means to  control their destiny living in a Republic - also a very wise move.

Our federal, state, and local government regulatory agencies gradually evolved into a system that can be envisioned as a "three legged stool."

One leg of the stool was a government agency charged with the management of the natural environment with the mission of "Wise Use and not Abuse of OUR Natural Resources".

The second leg of the stool was the extractive industries such as timber, mining, public recreation. There mission was to "Extract resources to create commerce and jobs and make available recreational opportunities."

The third leg of the stool was a police function, the environmentalists of society, keeping the bureaucrats on mission as they dealt with extractive industries.

The timber industry (a sawmill or whatever) came to the managing government agency (The Forest Service in this case) and requested permission to harvest 'n' board feet of timber.

The environmentalist component forced the Forest Service not to allow extractive industries to be heavy handed by not taking into consideration the needs of the environment.

The system, while clumsy, worked pretty well. It saw to it that OUR natural resources on public lands were available to create products for domestic and foreign use and at the same time not unduly stress the environment - following the mission concept of Wise Use and not Abuse of OUR Natural Resources.

This workable system has changed in recent time and we are now in the first stages of total socialism with environmentalism as the vehicle.

The check and balance system in place for many years has been corrupted by the environmental interest groups such as, Friends of the Bitterroot, the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, the Sierra Club, the Wilderness Society, Wild Forever, Earth Share, Earth First, The National Wildlife Federation to name a few of the hundreds of such groups that have captured OUR public resource management agencies.

No longer are there three separate entities of extractive industries, government agencies and environmentalists.

Our system of checks and balance has evolved into extractive industries and eco-terrorists. This system puts the corrupted management agencies firmly in command.

They have employed, for example, the Chickasaw chainsaw to reduce fuel load thus abusing our grazing and timber resources; all the while, it is suspected, knowing that OUR  private property could very well be destroyed along with OUR grazing and timber resources on OUR state and federal land -- using this process.

TOP DOWN MANAGEMENT HAS DEMONSTRATED THAT IT IS:

Bad for the environment.

Bad for wildlife!

Bad for the economy sharply curtailing harvest of   renewable resources on OUR public lands and moving this great nation ever closer to socialism!

Bad for representative style of government!

Bad for John Q. Citizen!
